My thanks to SRP
My thanks to SRP
I was recently the winner of the SRP giveaway, and won a fantastic prize bundle of a great soft brush, a cream which has become one of my favourites (Tabac), and a Reynold's razor. I had wanted to get the razor attended to for a while, but had not been in a position to do so. However, next week, I will be looking out for the postman very anxiously (for the second time with this razor!), as Jamie (Celticcrusader) has done an absolutely amazing job on this razor. If any of you have specific questions, then Jamie can chime in, but I understand that he has managed to retain and restore the horn scales that were originally on the blade, and has brought the razor to a beautiful shine.
This razor was already one of my most treasured razors due to its pedigree, elegant shoulder, and the shave it delivered, so its imperative for me to post here again in order to thank all those involved in running the SRP Giveaway particularly Bill (str8razor), the donor ReardenSteel, and Jamie. This is a great forum, and I look forward to paying forward when I can.

Nice razor. It has a distinct look to it, especially the shoulder. Happy shaving.

I finished restoring the Frederick Reynolds last night, I managed to steam the scales remove a badly warped and twist out of the scales I polished them up and had the blade centered in them perfect, I also saw there was no internal washers in this old razor quite understandable so I fitted new internal washer, the blade also came up nicely and looked good for a very old razor, I reassembled re-pinned and honed the razor, I'm very pleased that I was able to keep the original scales lead wedge It just looks so right.

That looks fantastic! I am very happy the razor found a new home and will be enjoyed for years to come. It was on my "To do" list but ended up sitting a drawer for a year or two. Damian and I were discussing the razor's history and unfortunately I was not able to provide many answers. I'm sure it's an interesting story on how this razor ended up in Tombstone, Arizona where I found it and now it's back home in the UK. Enjoy!
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???
