Its always nice to find a hidden treasure where it shouldn't be. I have found quite a few hidden gems inside boxes that were mismatched and described as whatever was on the box.

the biggest treat for me is finding beautiful etches on razors where the seller only shows the back of the blade! I buy just based on what I see as good restore candidates and lo and behold! several gems found that way, always a treat

Thats great!!! What a find. I bought an Avon Iron Horse shave mug with... 'old razor' included. I would have passed it up but I spied something! It was a Gillette red tip. The price was in the 1 digits. It shined up VERY nicely without any effort, AND the red was intact.

Very nice !! The steel looks excellent and I only see one bug bite in the scales.
Does that look well over 6/8" ?

13/16, just over 6/8. yes the steel does look good, pitting mostly on the upper portion of the blade and tang. I can deal with that its such a thin blade at the narrowest point of the hollow grind that there wouldn't be enough steel to support the cutting edge if there was pitting to remove! itll be a singing butcher, that's for sure! I got excited about it so I put aside the restores I have going so I could work on it tonight.
