Thread: Heljestrand Fabrique en Suede Genuine Tortoise

Found among a group of 10 very below average straight razors from an eBay Germany Auction. Not mentioned in the auction ad. I knew it might prove fruitful. Marked MK32 but it is one of those oddball 5/8 to 11/16 MK32's that have been reported in the past. Scales are solid and in excellent condition...ready to carefully shine up, hone up, and place in the den as a "keeper"

No Tang Notch?

Nope...I think this a very early piece...after market lower jimps added by the owner. File work. I noticed the scratched number "1" on the scales.I bet this was a PAIR in Tortoise originally.

Very nice tortoise, those scales will clean up a treat. Part of me *almost* wonders if there was the typical thumbnotch that was ground out. Something doesn't look quite right compared to other flat Heljes.

Is there a way to do some sort of test for it or is the I.D an educated visual?

Really? That surprises me, I would have thought you had tons. You can do the pin test or something along those lines. But just from these pictures there's no question this one is genuine.

Have never had access to the material,try to stay away from stuff that is not legal in raw form.

It is highly not legal. These are amazing and hefty. They are soon going to look as nice as the ones on the MK31's. This is an unusual Helje..but a Keeper for that alone...and the illegal Hawksbill scales
