Default Oh lord the RAD, make it stop! Seven new straights today and a Fatboy

Hi all, I went to a huge flea market today and picked up a decent haul for very little. I need to stop but its too good to pass up sometimes. So first here is a list of what I got!

The first two pictures: This is a Wade and butcher with bone scales, quite nice shape and I've yet to have bone scales in my collection.

Pics 3,4,&5: Two Edmond Roffler straights, these two are a couple of little guys some of the skinniest razors i've seen. From what I hear they were a part of the edmond roffler "system" for hair stylists. Could be interesting for trimming and people with small faces. The Roffler Story

Picture 6: This is a Union cutlery "spike" razor with a stamp on the back from the ohio distributor

Picture 7&8: Crown and Sword ERN 4720

Last one is of course the fatboy!

Post to be continued with the rest please wait to reply.

    Ok so continued:

The first picture is of course the Crown and sword again

The next two are of my favorite of the day, what I have dubbed as "The Butcher's Red Imp" (Nudge Nudge Wink Wink, know what I mean? say no more. )

Its a wade and butcher blade with a Red imp by case's scales.

    What I didnt buy:

A liberty bell razor, this razor had a gold liberty bell etched on the blade with writing, seller wanted $90 I didnt know enough about it.

george wostenholm & son straight razor, this was an IXL razor in great condition it was what i estimate to be 7/8 and had a barbers notch and beautiful etching. The seller wanted $300, It was owned by a civil war buff and he told me about how that because of the civil war and all the death people started designing cases shaped like coffins. The case was shaped like a coffin, think fistful of dollars coffin. I got the impression he was there to just tell stories about his stuff and not sell it.

A J.R. Torrey with beautiful etching and zero rust..... unfortunately the blade was chipped beyond use, this one broke my heart.

A cigar box of rusted, chipped and ground down razors. The seller saw my interest and asked five dollars for the entire box but i declined it wasnt worth it. I should have offered $1 so he wouldnt have to take it home.

    Question:
Do you guys remove razor blades in razors at flea markets? I've done this a few times for razors i dont buy if they have them. I'd rather someone not get cut.

Nice haul. You have the early symptoms. Don't start worrying until you lie about your purchases. This is called denial. When you start lying to yourself it's to late, start looking for a storage site.

heh, see I keep telling myself I need to keep a set amount of razors and when I get one one needs to be sold. I started with one, my current rotation is 10 and I'm designing my own razor storage box to make....

also, can anyone tell if the scales on the one WB are bone or ivory?

I dream about some of the collections on here.... I have ten sharpened and a few others waiting to be honed (by a few others i mean 10) im hoping to get a package deal to try and save money as a college student. I just picked up a goldedge at a flea market, I can't wait to start using it, I already love dubl ducks and this just made it worse.... I started to look at lifetime reapers...

I swear I started with just one DD .... Now it got a months rotation of all the big boys and niche players and I am still looking for my daily shaver. Oh the insanity of it all. Some are just so I have a representation of said maker. Other just caught my eye....and the list goes on...If I didn't shave my wife's legs in trade I would be divorced by now.:chop

It's not a disorder. You're rescuing these razors from some ignoble fate at the hands of some woefully uninformed owner. It's practically a mercy mission to scoop 'em up. All of them. Everywhere.
