    Default Yeah I di that.......

So has anyone had a blade the really enjoy,
don't want to lose the authenticity of the blade in restoring it?
Do something dumb just to preserve it?

I contacted the seller, emailed specs on the current blade/scales and bought it just to fix/replace the scales on mine.

Somebody make me feel a bit better about this, please.

Yeah, I have done the same.

The most ridiculous one though was years ago when I collected cameras. Had a great old baby speed graphic with a shabby box, and saw a virtually mint empty box on US Ebay for, lets say (cant remember!) $5.00. The sellers writing looked a bit of a scrawl and the $5 looked more like $500 - and it got stopped by customs and I had to pay a whacking great import fee. You have to pay over here (UK) and argue later. It took for ages but I convinced them in the end and got my money back

Funny thing is I sold the camera long ago, but I couldn't find the box, so I still have it somewhere....

Still, that's a nice blade you have. And to be honest, the one in the auction pics doesn't look too shabby either - not as nice as yours but I bet it makes a good shaver!

    Regards,
    Neil

I'm impressed that you got money back. The border people must be a lot easier to get along with there than here. I had sent an item to the US for repair once, and they slapped me with import fees to get it back. It didn't matter that it was already mine and left the country and came back. Here they say you pay and I have never heard of anyone that has gotten a refund.

There is a procedure to file a grievance with CBSA and argue your case. Most people never take it though.
