Got this nice little mappin and webb from ebay last week, no one else put in a bid so I paid £1 plus postage

I'll go back at it with the wet and dry to remove the last of the pits but I got impatient and wanted to try shaving with it.

Put it through Norton 1k 4k 8k and .5 cr0x honed and stropped in about 20mins and it shaves like a dream.

Only a quick clean up job I know, when I have time I'll compete the restoration, but until then I'm delighted at what I got for next to nothing!

Looks pretty good to me, especially for $1. Way to go!
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Nice catch. I've not tried a Mappin & Webb but I love the steel of my Mappin Brothers wedge, the design is quite similar. I found the chromium oxide edge really didn't hold up well at all, mine seems happier coming off a coticule.

Yeah maybe a touch of a false economy from me, but the budget won't stretch to a nice finisher at the moment, the cr0x does its job in that I get an edge I can shave with. It does seem to be holding the edge a little better on this blade though so far

Gotta love it when you pick a diamond in the rough. £1 would be good just for the scales if you need them for transplant. I don't know if I'd pursue more sanding, but it's you razor and your call.

The back has a little worse pitting, I might go back to it but more likely to use for a long while before that happens.

Does anyone know anything about the sun thurs stamp? I've not seen a set marked like this before.
