collection of 4
Hey all!
I picked up these 4 for $75.
There are 2 Bengalls,1 Sinfonie and 1 Blue Wonder.
Nearly all of the scales are broken, except the Blue Wonder and nearly all of the blades need attention, except one of the Bengalls (by attention I mean new bevels, they all want a proper honing and a good stropping to follow!)
I am hoping to get new scales on the 3 that need it. I was hoping to get some nice Australian red hardwood, like Jarrah, onto them or maybe something a bit more ornamental like cherry.
Either way I will be out the back polishing the blades for before I get them onto the stones.
The Blue Wonder is probably the only one I won't take apart. It will come up fairly nice with some TLC.
I was thinking I might keep the good Bengall and the Sinfonie for myself, but time will tell
Enjoy, and please feel free to comment, share, plagiarise or whatever else takes your fancy.

Hi Andrew What you've got here are four razors that need a LOT of work !!
I'm not sure I've got them in the right order, but here goes.
1. Bengall No.1, this has been honed and worn away 'till it's just plain ugly and probably only good for restoration practice.
Unpinning, getting rid of rust, sanding etc-a good razor to practice your skills.
2. Bengall No.2. If this is No.2 then we need some more close-up pics, but it looks savable.Serious work needed.
3. Sinfonie. This looks well-worn and close-ups are needed, but I wouldn't hold my breath !!
4. Blue Wonder. This is heartbreaking. First pic is yours, second pic is the definition of a frown.
I reckon there's a lot of work to make this shave ready.
Mate, I'm thinning out my collection at the moment. Check this out, if you want it, it's yours.
No cost whatsoever. It's not shave-ready, so you have to send it to "Onimaru" on the Aussie forums.
If this is your first go at S.R. shaving, you might ask him to take off the spike point.
P.M. a postal address.
Best Wishes,

Hey mate,
I just tried to reply but not sure if it worked? But thank you very much and when I get home I will get some photos and a postal address. It's my first time with SR shaving and I'd like to get it right

Welcome to SRP Andrew. Bongo hit the nail on the head as to the condition of those razors. I think when most of us, or at least many of us, begin this pursuit we tend to be over enthusiastic in picking up straights. I did much the same as you when I first started out picking up razors. A few months down the road I wouldn't even give stuff like that a second look. Kudos to Bongo for his kind generosity.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hey guys, thanks so much for the super-generous offers, feeling very loved and welcome.
As promised some more photos with hopefully some more detail, I'll post them up in separate posts so as to avoid confusion...
This is the better condition Bengall.

This one is the Sinfonie, the keen eye will detect the subtle difference in the length of the blade compared to the scales, surely not the original scales... they are a long way short of accommodating the blade properly.

And lastly the Blue Wonder, I managed to get a good bevel on this, I have had a lot of practice with setting edges on my knives, I've been sharpening by hand for a good few years so I was fairly confident with giving it a go, I gave it a good run on 400 then 1000. I had hoped to take that nasty curve out of the blade but only smoothed it out a bit. I had hoped to bring this one up rather nicely and then re-sell it as it seemed to be a nice piece.
here was the worse Bengall, I hit it with some 140 Wet and Dry then some 2000 Wet and Dry briefly. The scales just about fell off.
