    not sure what the wedge is made of. its glossy black, maybe some type of plastic?
    Just be sure to proceed slowly and use very very gentle taps when peening those. Going too hard, too fast, or too far could easily crack the scales.

    It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
    This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
