Ralf - I couldn't resist
I've just pulled the trigger on that razor I hope will get me further immersed into straight razor shaving. A beautiful Ralf Aust 6/8 with Olive wood handle from Lynn / SRD. I will take very good care of this one as I plan for it to be my main (only?) straight.
I have an old W&B that shaves well and a "Gotta" off eBay that needs some work. These will be good to practice with.
Until I'm more experienced, my DEs and SEs will remain my go to choices but who knows what the future holds!

possumbelly,
These are well made razors and sweet shavers. Good choice.

Thanked: 4828Hmmm. I becomes very dedicated to shaving with my straight razor right away. I wonder if the guys, like yourself, that switch back and forth have a longer learning curve or if because you are using the single and double edge razors if it is similar enough that it doesn't hamper your learning? They are very nice razors. Much nicer in person actually. They have a very nice weight to them, and they look and shave well.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

A year ago, I was sure I would never want to use a straight. "Too much effort" ... "Too difficult" .... "Couldn't be bothered stropping, honing etc"
Somehow you get pulled in to explore more and more. The feel of the hardware, the craftsmanship, the skill required to master all the steps.
The dark side beckons!
