Found this one locally and took pity on it. Poor thing was heavily stained, a small crack in the ivory scales at the wedge pin off side and ugly hone wear. The blade might have been 6/8 new but is now 11/16 tapering to less at the toe. What can I say, it was a Mappin Brothers and it was local. Anyway gave it a light cleaning to see what I had preparatory to honing it. I wasn't too disappointed. I am guessing because it is stamped Mappin Brothers it was made sometime between 1848 and 1859. That is if I read the info on Manah's site STRAZORS.com - all about classic razors - Mappin Brothers/Mappin & Webb, Sheffield. correctly. Please correct me if I have made a mistke dating it.
