Thread: Birthday present for the wife!

A while back I broke my wife's favorite paring knife. So for her birthday this year I decided to replace it with one I had a hand in making. I ordered the blank online and put some horn scales on it. I had a buddy that restores razors walk me through everything. Then I found a local saddle maker that likes teaching and he walked me through a sheath. Here's the final result. It was a ton of fun and I will most definitely be making more.

Exactly! It's far from perfect as it was my first time doing anything of the sort, but it turned out really good and she loves it. As a result she said I should get the tools I need to make more of them for family and friends. I'm most excited about the saddle maker I met. He makes strops as well and is really excited to have someone to teach the craft to.
