This Kanayama 90000 strop landed on my doorstep Friday. It is the thickest leather strop I have ever seen. Love it.

The surface of the finish strop feels like silk. I will be slowing down my stropping tempo for this one.....

    Very true pups.

My personal claim to fame has always been the fact that I have not nicked a strop since 1971. This strop is giving me pause to reflect on some very important aspects of stropping. The Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, all should go well. Please!!!

I just Goggled this strop and just about had a stroke had it not been for the alcohol in my system to cushion the blow, shheeessshhh. For that much, I don't think that I would ever use it for fear of cutting it, and I haven't nicked one in ages. Are you taking out a Lloyd's of London insurance policy on that thing? I could buy the whole damn cow for that much...

I have a bit more trepidation about chamfering the long edges than I do about using the strop. I want to get the chamfer uniform and perfect..

This is just an update on the Kanayama 90000 strop. When I saw the quality of the cordovan finish strop, I emailed the seller to see if he sells replacement finish leather so I could build another strop using it.

I got an return email from one Takeshi Aoki stating that the linen and suede replacements are available but not the cordovan finish strop. So there you have it. Everything but what I need. Better luck next time.

Now that I've been using the 90000 for 2 weeks or so, I can report that the cordovan is like stropping on silk with a little draw to it. Why did I wait so long?
