    Default New SR and mug

Picked these two beauties up this week at two local antique stores...$15 for the razor which is a nearly perfect Torrey "Our 136" and the mug for $15 as well.

Dennis, when are you going to change the name of your shop to 'Sharp Object Museum and Sundry Other Things'?

    Nice razor and "egg cup".

    Ooooh.
Nice finds. The razor looks very clean for an antique store acquisition.

It was, very clean, and for 15 bucks was a great deal I felt.

This week I also snagged that 63 dollar thuringian (14.5" long) and a 3 line hone as well, both posted in the hone section.

    My acquisition disorders continue lol...

You did good on the Thuringian. There was a guy on eBay selling slurry's for that stone. If not You can cut about a 1/4" piece from it with a hacksaw but if I were you, I would get a professional to do it or a razor specialist. It helps. Hopefully it was lapped when you got it. That is very important for your stone to be perfectly flat. Even when buying hones new, they don't come lapped & you have to lap 'em yourself on a lapping plate or lapping stone. Those disorders will continue & if you only have one straight razor, it would be a good idea to have a backup just in case. It is a good idea to have more than one. Good luck on your new addiction. I have a lot of fun with mine.

    Dennis,
You scored well with the old-time scuttle and the Torrey razor. I would call that a great day.

Sounds like me then since you're not new to this. I thought that because I was commenting to Beginners as well as Show n Tell!
