Merci pour leur montrer!
They are a pair to be proud of. Nice scales that could be slightly improved. Dry them, have them honed and enjoy them!
I would hazard that they are from about 1860 or earlier.
wait for the guys what know better for real information!

Nice matched pair, the scales appear to be ivory.

Thanked: 4827Would your parents like to adopt an adult child? That is a very nice looking pair and the case looks to be a winner too, although there is a little damage at the one end of the lid. As a general thought, anytime I see ivory scales I always think of high end goods because no one would ever waste perfectly good ivory on a mediocre product. I think you have a great prize, and a gift from family no less!

I think that my parents are very happy (and tired) with two children so I guess that adoption won't enchant them.
Moreover, thanks to my sister, there is a lack of place in the house... Girls and fashion, I don't say more.
I have an other straight razor with ivory scales, it's a French product, but it's very damaged :
And I have a few more English razors, but just common productions.

I would be more than happy to take that damaged razor off of your hands

Thanked: 0Maybe because the pic doesn't give a good idea about the situation.
It was a huge blade at the beginning, I think a little more than 24mm width, but the nicks have reached nearly 3mm near the nose.
I asked to the French specialist about restoration if some repairs would be possible and he sayed to me that it would take a very long time, for an important price and with a bad result because the scales are dirty and the teeth on the edge are important.
I bought this razor for 2 euros 1 year ago and it breathes dust since.
So my biggest blade is a Le Grelot 14 and not this near wedge.

That is interesting! We see souvenir razor from all sorts of world's fairs, anniversary's, hotels, grooming clubs, ships, etc.
Ya think St Paul's had a souvenir shop?"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 0If it's the case, with that sort of products and cheap prices, I would go to London each week!

Very nice pair of razors. Your parents did a hell of a job finding those.I would do everything possible for them if I were you. You never know what may come your way next time!
They're beautiful!
