Default Kevin's (hidetoarts) visit to KC pays off!!!

Kevin's visit to KC earlier this year has really payed off. My only regret is that I couldn't go with him. Kevin found some very nice straights for me as well as a Rolls Razor and he cleaned them all up for me and honed one of them. The rest he left for me to play/practice with. The one he honed up for me is a Diamondine. I don't know much about it (ok, I know nothing about it) but it is beautiful, is hard steel, and has one heck of an edge. It has to be one of the smoothest edges I've felt. I just got it a few days ago and have used it twice and wow, I've gotten a better, smoother shave than I've had in a while and I know its not from my technique improving! LOL!! Can't wait until October to go to KC and learn how to hone that way myself.

Diamondine Kevin also cleaned up and polished the scales too.

You're so right, Chris. Kevin was one of very few I felt fine about learning to hone while he was very new to the str8 shave. He has the maturity, a strong sense of craftsmanship that includes the light tough as well as any other. In my entirely subjective opinion, he's wonderful to talk to. 'Wish he wasn't out there in that part of the country. He's a natural for the PNW (northwet). 'Good to see you post, Chris. 'Hope all is very well.

    Hi Robert,

It's great to see you too. He is great to talk to and learn from. I had the opportunity to go to KC with him the first time but had to bow out and I was scheduled to go to his place last month to lean some more but had to cancel at the last minute due to some issues my family had to deal with. But this time, I'll be driving out with him and another great member to KC in October so I should really get some good hands on. In the mean while, I'll be making some scales for the first time for the Torrey. Take care and hope all is well with you and your family too.

    Thanks Harold and engine,

It was a great score. You should see some of the other stuff Kevin has been able to find. I don't know how he does it.
