The chamfered / beveled scale edges are period, in my opinion. I have a couple slightly later blades in horn with that feature.

Thanks Richard - those do look like the scales....hopefully I can keep them then.

Here's the only other decent pic from the auction:

The scales definitely aren't original, but look very old and nicely made.

The razor is, IMHO, from 1815-1825, give or take

I saw that Phrank & almost bought it. It was $100 BIN. I waited & took my chances on a Wm Greaves & Sons & won it for $53.99, just pennies more than the bidder below me. Check it out, eBay item #311054821551. It has a spot I'll have to remove from the blade but so what. It has a great smile to it!

Yup, that was the one....beautiful old blade, am looking forward to the restore.

Great deal on the one you got, just amazes me, a gorgeous vintage Greaves like that, doubt I'll ever buy a new production blade again...congrats!

Did you happen to look at the bids on the one I got Phrank? I think I won it by $0.44 or something like that.

LOL - but isn't that the way to win?

I usually only place one bid with an auto-limit 5 seconds before the end of the auction and I win or lose, because in the end, the only bid that counts is the winning one. Good catch...bullseye!
