Thanked: 1185Weekend Scuttle Score
Much to my surprise my local antique place actually had quite a few scuttles today. Most were the very ornate, dainty Victorian sort that were obviously designed for micro brushes and look more like fancy tea cups than any sort of shave gear. As I wondered around surveying the selection there it was. A bit more substantial than its dainty flowered counterparts but nonetheless very antique. It's made in England and has the hallmark H 6413 on the bottom. Through exhaustive research I've figured out the gentleman pictured on one side is Charles Dickens' character Captain Cuttle of the Dickens story Dombey and Son.
No idea who the lady pictured on the opposite side might be. We've got experts on everything here at SRP anyone an expert on English porcelain? I'm guessing this was probably made in the 1880's based on the registry number. Anybody know for sure?
The older I get, the better I was

Thanked: 498She's a beauty GI. It truly is amazing how something that old and so fragile is still here with us today. Do you plan to use it or is it just for the shelf?
Regardless enjoy it.

Yes, I know exactly when & where it's from;
The hallmark "H 6413" stands for Hong Kong, 1964, factory # 13.
It's stamped made in England, because Hong Kong was still under British rule until 1997.
The current market value is $6.38 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
