Joseph Elliot Senator's Frameback razor
Adding to the list of oddities, and old Framebacks, this one is also in especially good condition. A Joseph Elliot brass frameback, 'Senator's Razor'. Excited to get this one honed up and going.
Couldn't turn this one down when I saw it.

You did real good when you got that one! I don't know how they sharpened them with the brass! I have a nice Wade & Butcher brass frameback but what they used in place of electrical tape is a mystery.

Very nice. I like how the darkness of the blade contrasts with the brass.

Whenever I see a brass frameback from bygone days, I wonder what they were thinking in terms of hone wear at the spine. No electrical tape back then. Brass being softer than steel, it just seems odd to me that they would make 'em like that. OTOH, brass was soft and easy to cast/machine, and probably somewhat cheaper too. Probably the hone wear part is why they didn't make that many of them. I say that because we see many more steel spine framebacks, so I'm assuming they didn't make 'that' many. Of course nowadays we have electrical tape so if it is in great shape, like that one in the OP, it ain't an issue. Just food for thought.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 884Better be careful with that one if our current senate is any indication of what can happen.
