Awesome! There should be a Gilchrist club to show them all off.

I just had the opportunity to hold this razor and look at it up close and personal. What an incredible razor! Looks like it was vacuum sealed 150 years ago...absolutely MINT!
Great score Zak!Lupus Cohors - Appellant Mors !

That's one beautiful, unique brass frame back. I noticed it the other day when you first showed it. I clicked on the like button. I can't believed people are just now noticing it! It is a very rare one indeed! My Macbook went out on me after I first saw it, waited a few days for it to be fixed & got it back before others saw it.And I thought my Wade & Butcher brass frame back was a rare one..............................Congrats my friend.

Thanked: 118I have this Joseph Elliot Patent solid brass frameback razor. To compare to yours, the scales are quite alike but the steel blade and brass frameback differ in a few notable ways. Yours has a straight, slightly slanted point while mine has a funny, almost plow-shaped point, maybe you would call it a Spanish point. Yours has a nice, shallow thumbnotch on the underside of the tang. Mine has a pretty short, stubby tail while yours is a bit more refined. Yours has much nicer die stamps while mine looks a bit more rough, not as finely done. Overall, I would think mine is an earlier production but then why does yours have the Joseph Elliot trademark? Puzzling...
