Thanked: 68I got the sickness
Well being a knife maker originally I've done most of my shaving with my own customs, I do have a few Razors that I've picked up though. But for some reason I started searching on Ebay for some others, I guess, just for pure kicks to collect them. My first real excursion was on a good looking Dubl Duck Goldegde and maaaaaannn did I let it slip out of my hands and really wish I would've bid more aggressively. But I did end up picking up this guy, and just got delivered today. For what I got I'm very excited, because I got it for a song at most, the price tag was on par with rusted up no names I've seen in antique stores and Ebays "wall of shame".
The scales are loose and sub par IMO, they will be replaced with something a bit more fitting to the blade, but all in all this thing is fantastic, and practically shave ready. Should be a breeze honing it up. Oh, and yes, it really is as clean as it looks.
I think I'm going to be quite pleased with this DD Pearlduck Dwarf.

Thanked: 68Yeah, the only spot I'm remotely concerned about is toward the heel on the one side. But after looking through many pictures of others I feel pretty confident. I guess I'll find out when it gets here! And I suppose that's part of the fun!

Thanked: 1184These will be nice Ducks. Nothing that can't be fixed and not much needed really. If you haven't used one before your going to find the double hollow takes a different touch. You will like it :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 68I should have the gold edge by the end of the week hopefully and will see how it turns out. The dwarf is in superb condition, but the scales need redone they are very sloppy at this point.
Thanks for the advice engine, that is my plan, I haven't had to deal with cell rot first hand yet, any idea how long it usually takes to re-manifest itself after a clean up?

No, I have no idea about that. Lets hope it really hasn't started because I just know that when it starts, it spreads like cancer. Good luck with it, it's a beautiful piece. You might try to research it or 10pups is a pro on those from what I've heard. He does some fantastic restorations on those, so you might touch base with him on that & ask if there is a way to treat them from the cell rot spreading. I don't know if those scales have cell rot forming or if those type do so but he transparent scales are really bad about it.
