Thanked: 127My big Frenchie and a Peng Lee of Singapore from the 30s
Today arrived two Razors i was waiting for, i was sceptic if both would be useful but now after i cleaned and restored them (better said, i restored the French and cleaned the Singapore) im very happy with both, the Peng Lee will show how it shaves tomorrow Morning :-)
First Peng Lee & Co., Boat Quay Singapore, its 6/8" and what i believe 1/2 hollow but thin grounded, the Scales are made of Ebonite (Hard Rubber) and very thin, on the Blade is an light etching of an Elephant.
Sharpening was easy but how i suppose not necessary as the Razor had a very good sharpness from what i think it was the original sharpness as it seemed NOS to me, NOS in this Case or better in my understanding means new and unused with Storage Damages possible.
At the Tang Rivet i had to remove dried Oil, cant wait until tomorrow :-)
Second one is one of my Favourite Razors Types, an old french 1/4 Hollow - Wedge Razor, heavy & massive, my kind of Chopper :-)
It was made by Lafay, Rue de la Barre 16 at Lyon in France, the Scales are made of Horn and in very good condition, instead of the blade when i got it, as you can see i removed much rust and dirt but now its cleaned and preserved and i think the original Design and the Razors History is visible.
Sharpening was a bit work because of the hard steel, but typical for that kind of Razors the Sharpness became very nice and keen, Hair Test wasnt a Problem :-)

Thanked: 2284The second is also my kind of razor. They don't need to be sparkling to shave nice. Love the age marks!
