    Default my new DE

ok so ever since i became curious in DE shaving , i have been running Gillettes up & down my face !! the Slim Adjustable flew to the top of my list and i never thought it would be a MODERN razor to do it .... but my friends it has !!

My new favorite DE after one shave is now this Merkur Futur !! o man does this thing feel awesome , i could not believe how smooth and comfortable this thing is in the hand and to be honest as i looked at them online i shook my head and thought " i would never spend that much on a DE when i have such wonderful vintage DE's " !! well enough about it already , time to show it off

Now that you are done with all those Greaves I'll get rid of them for you. I think the prices have dropped drastically on them but I will see what I can do for ya after you send them to me :<0)

That Merkur looks so cool it's tempting me.

I am trying to get into DE shaving. I bought one a long time ago and I just can't seem to get into it. I always get razor burn because of bad technique but I tried it last week and it wasn't bad. That thing looks really neat Gooser. Enjoy. Hopefully me and this junker can build a relationship.

I have come to the conclusion I cannot use them, I do ok with some less aggressive ones. The reason I finally found straights is that the too-close shave afforded by these contraptions leaves me with ingrown hairs and irritation. Pushing the skin down to cut the hairs off get's things close, but the tradeoff is not worth it, to me. I seem to do fine with the less-aggressive ones and particularly like the SE's. If you can use them, they are great!

    Interesting looks.

Modern blades are different than the vintage ones. I think this one is designed for the modern blades. I wonder if you put a vintage blade in this one if it would perform as well as a vintage with the modern blades????

Sorry if this has been discussed many times before! LOL

i started with the straights , i may have only done a couple full shaves with a DE , i pretty much do one pass with the straight and a follow up with the DE in case i missed anything , i like a mild DE also , the highest setting i can go is 3 on a slim or fatboy .. this Futur is about like a 3 setting on setting 1-2 with 2 being a tad bit more aggressive then the 3 on the Gillette's it seems .. idk for sure but it feels like it .. i know i went to 5 on a slim one time and about ripped my face off !!!but idk if it is the modern design of this Futur or if its the longer handle and weight but once i adapted to the right angle i was really inpressed ..

Whatever razor type one uses, blade angle to skin is still a prime factor even more than blade quality.
