Default Wade & Butcher 4/8 wedge?

OK, so I purchased this Wade & Butcher from a local antique store and am trying to figure out any info on it I can. It looks like a barbers notch 4/8 wedge blade, but I'm not sure. I compared it to a nice 4/8 Wade & Butcher Extra Hollow Ground I have and spine measures same width and blade is same 4/8 but????Name: IMG_5880.jpg

looks like probably a 5/8 WB with bad hone wear all the way down to 4/8. you can tell by the marks along the top of the spine and short uneven "nub" below the barbers notch.

That's a nice wedge but I doubt it was a 5/8 or if all that meat (1/8") was removed from it, it would have had to have been much thicker at the spine also.

See, that's what got me thinking about it was the thickness of the spine and if it had "hone death" the spine would be a LOT thinner than it is. In the pic of the 2 razors together, the other one is a W&B extra hollow ground 4/8 and the older one's blade is almost the same size as the newer one and the spine is almost the same width.

Nice razor. The bevel is a little wide but sometimes you can't avoid that unless more layers of tape are used but I would leave it alone for now, especially if it shaves good!
