Default my new old strop !!

i was bored one night and decided i needed a vintage strop to add to the collection !! so i took a gamble on this " Illinois #6500 " no nicks or cracks , a few scratches but nothing that can be felt through a razor .. kinda feels strange holding it cause of the weight involved and it is smooth as glass ... on another note i really like the feel of the linen side , i dont know why but it just really seems nice !! if anything after a cleaning i will have something else to play with in the den ..

I have a similar one..."Tanned In Scotland" of the same style and hardware. It is a wonderful piece of leather.
I know you have read the strop entries in the library here.

Richard thank you so much for the link!! A while back I was looking for leather with no luck. After reading that thread I googled tack shop and just got off the phone with a very nice lady that says she has everything I need and they are about 5 minutes from me!! Great information and thanks again.

Good work - couple of weeks ago I did the same with an old Double Duck Vintage strop...cleaning the linen was fun, gave it a good wash then a firm pressing with an iron, turned out perfect, nice and white and as a good as new, and after about three weeks of the occasional application of some Fromm's Strop Conditioner, the leather is now supple (as opposed to rock hard) and is a fantastic strop.

Good work, as always, it's great to bring something back from yesteryear.
