Size: 23.9 KB The Sheffield with the bone scales I won off the bay and got it this week. as I said earlier this week after I cleaned it up I would wait to see how it shaved. well I honed it and shaved with it and now it looks like it's go a home. the little blade shave quite well. really surprised me. I'm use to a larger and heavier razor. the one with the black scales well I just go it today. it is a The Perfection by Silvan razor. looks to be about 7/8 and hollow ground. Sheffield steel and ground in Germany. I really expected it to be in a lot worse shape than it was. all it took to clean it up was a little buffing with the drimel and drimel buffing pad. I was intrigued so I got out all the stones needed and went to work. in just a short time it was popping hair off the arm and after the 12 and the 20K I stropped and the hanging hair was passed with almost no effort at all. now all that's necessary is for the beard to grow enough to shave. the only thing I am concerned about is the weight. being a full hollow ground blade it is light. I'm really use to the heavier razors.

That sheffield is stunning. Love the scales on it. Very nice shape on the perfection as well!

It's sad to say but the Sheffield looks different now. That photo is from eBay. when they shipped it they closed it so tight that they cracked the bottom scale. I replaced the scales with a set of horn. I'm getting ready to set the light box up again and take a lot of pictures when I do i'll post so everyone can see what I've lucked into. I've been able to win 5 razors of the bay in the last 2 weeks and I believe they were a good deal. Oh yea I cried big o crocodile tears when I saw the crack but the blade was too good to send back.

I've always found the older, straight, scales to be more visually appealing than the modern ones.

Was there any kind of pitting in those blades?

The Sheffield had a little rust but it cleaned up rather well. the Perfection was stained and it cleaned up great. I had a chance to shave with it today and I have to say it shaves as well as any blade I have if not better. It looks like I may keep it also. I will say that it has every thing you would want in a razor the steel is Sheffield and it was ground in Germany. the best of both worlds.

Great score, I love the straight scales on razors! I like the other one too.
