Cool find gooser! Here's a pic of my blood letter in bone. It's from J.S. Holler & Co. Germany. I don't know much else about it. Ever see those cool little glass cups made for cupping the blood? More cool stuff to collect!

Well, watch out for what sellers say things are, gents! My understanding is they cut you, hung your arm to dangle over the side of the chair, and kicked a spitoon under to catch the blood. The blood running around and down is where the barberpole thing came from!

a couple interesting reads on the instruments of the time
Antique Bloodletting and Leeching Instruments
this one goes over the double edged J. Rodgers as well as the glass jars ( cupping) as well as the pan type (spittoon) and diagrams of certain area's to cut .. i havnt read it all yet but a bunch of it ..
The Project Gutenberg eBook of Bloodletting Instruments in the National Museum of History and Technology, by Audrey Davis and Toby Appel.

hey anything older then me I have interest in ..the idea of a blood letting tool is kinda creepy but in a cool way , the ink eraser isn't as cool ..lol..
but I can say that I think both were made the same but labeled differently depending on who wanted what or marketed to get rid of old stock of cutters , cause ive saw both listed as both in different threads or searches , and a catalog page but I couldn't enlarge it enough to read it ..
but hey !! I never said I was normal !!
