Default Inherited early 1900's Crown razor and stone

My 93 year old grandmother passed recently (she and I were very close). In her estate was a straight razor in what I consider to be remarkable condition considering its age.
    Crown Razor Co. Boston, MA
    Extra Hollow Grond
    Franz Swaty stone (Austria)

Included is a note my grandmother wrote stating that this was used by her grandfather and then her father.
Pretty special for me to say the least!
I have always shaved with shaving soap and brush, and owning a straight razor is always something I wanted (I am still planning on purchasing one after my wedding later this year).

Anyway, I wanted to share the photos and as I am a Straight Razor beginner ask any recommendations for restoration and honing (is it in good enough shape to restore?)and also any history or tidbits you may know.

    Thanks,

Both items are worth the clean-up if you wish to use them. A lasting good memory for you!
    Enjoy!

Heirlooms are always special. Take care of it with pride & restore it. I would use it on special occasions & get another one for everyday use so that nothing happens to that special piece. Heirlooms are priceless........

Thank you. That is what I plan to do. Rare and special use, then include a note that I used it and keep in my family to pass down.
Thanks Hirlau for the members link to have it restored.

Great idea. Write a note of your own & include it with the other note & hand it down later in the future!!! I like that.
