I-XL Fork & Knife
I just got the fork to my I-XL fork & knife set even though they aren't matching. I got them from two separate auctions after I lost a good matching set the other day but I do have way less invested in these two pieces. The knife handle was bent at one time or another & I will leave it that way. My luck, it will go like the W&B blade & break. The knife has an 8.5" blade. Now all that's missing is a new bar-b-q pit & the brisket, yard bird or steak! I love the stag handles. In case any newbies out there always wondered what the I-XL stands for, it is I Excel.

What is the purpose of the folding part on the fork, are those legs to stand it up?

i was gonna ask the same ? as my W&B set has the same on the fork .. my theory was that it was to help hold a slice of meat from falling of the fork or to hold what is being cut under the fork while serving
after it is sliced but i have no idea .. my second guess was as a stand while setting it down ...
very nice set btw !!
ive had my eye on a table steak knife/fork set to go with my others ..

The folding part is to keep te fork off the table (and table cloth) when not in use.

Thanked: 1184Ever pick up a big ole chunk of meat and have it slide down the fork stopping at your knuckles :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 1184Well I was just thinking about the other 2 suggestions.
1. Do you carve anything towards yourself ?
2. How come the knife doesn't have a kick stand then ?
3. I have had hot greasy knuckles before. Especially with meat that has been slow cooked for a long time. Handy when picking up a turkey and putting it from pot to platter.
I got the same set other brand (W&B) :<0)

The only things that have a kick stand on them are my Harley's! I don't know why the seller put that comment on there!!! You're right about the greasy hands & it would be handy when picking up a turkey and putting it from pot to platter. I don't dare carve toward myself if I can help it & if I do, I'm very careful about it. I sure don't want my intestines hanging' out while cutting a piece of meat. I just got the darn things & the blade needs sharpening but when it IS sharpened, I will be cutting some brisket hopefully.......some turkey..........steak.......venison & whatever else. I love cooking pork spare ribs too & they aren't ready until the meat falls off the bone.
You guys are crackin' me up!Last edited by engine46; 02-09-2015 at 11:22 AM.
