Another toy
The first is before and the eBay photo. it was pretty rusty. wood scales scales not broken I just decided not to use them. the second and third photo is after. The razor still needs work but i'll tackle it later if I keep it. I'll get the hone after it and the other two I just got and see if they shave good. the scales are faux black mop. they look better than the photo. I just cant seem to take a good picture.

Thanked: 4824When I get good at taking razor pictures I'll tell you how I do it, in the mean time I will just appreciate the razors and the lens cap. That FR should be just fine, you can make them more shiny but they will shave just the same.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

This is one that there are patterns in the metal but it's to a point that the 220 wet dry sand paper doesn't do anything. I go from 220-400-600-800-1200-20000 grit and the patterns are still there. I'm going to a friends this spring and ask what to do next. He's pretty knowledgeable about these things. anyway i'm not going to hone this one until then. compared to the photo on eBay to what it really looked like big difference. I've saved the scales to use as a pattern . I kind of like the shape. if they were anything other that wood (old wood) and in the shape they are I would have used them.

Looks good Roger. The wood scales weren't original anyway so it was better to get it out of them. It looks better in those scales now.

This is the last of the 3 toys I got this month and I finally got it honed today. Out of the 3 This one does the best. I used 2 layers of tape and ended up with a nice looking edge and when I hold up one of the wife's hairs out of her brush it clips it all the way up. The wade and butcher has a home and now so does this one. I tried the 3 out this afternoon on a 3 day old beard. As I posted in another spot the wade and butcher was very good the Fredrick was good and this Fredrick Reynolds was best. I think the honing was ok on them all I believe the difference was in the size and shape. I suppose that's why they made so many sizes and shapes.

With regards to photography a lot of guys use a lightbox - basically a wooden cube frame with baking paper over it and a hole in the front. You shine light through the paper.
never used one as i am not a photographer, there are a few threads and a library article about them too.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
