This is the first Joseph Rodgers I've acquired. how will this brand compare to others. I know the by what I see on eBay that Wade and Butchers are very popular and the ones I have are good shavers. The wostys are right up there with W B. The Fredricks Reynolds seem to be good also. But this is the first Joseph Rodgers. What do the older collectors think of them.

I was watching that one on ebay. Almost bid but decided not to. Joseph Rodgers made great blades. Right up there with the other big sheffield makers. I have several and love them all.

Joeseph, Freddy, Wade, it is all pretty much the same thing. I have all those and maybe some others, I'm not sure because I am not at home, but the point I'm getting to is that as long as the are well hone, they all will take a great edge, then it is all about the hand holding the razor. To be honest I have no idea what makes one of these much more popular than the others. For the most part, I think way back when, the higher end razors were higher end because of fit and finish. They looked prettier in the display case. I think the rest is pretty much the same. Like buying a custom, it is about getting a unique blade, that is hand made by a skilled artisan.

Never met a Joseph Rodgers & Sons I didn't love shaving with, some of the best Sheffield razors made that I've tried. I also have Wades, Wosty's and FR's but do prefer JR&Sons although they all shave great if properly honed.

All of my JR's are great shavers.

My first big Sheffield was a JR. I'm partial to them and is my choice Sheffield brand. You got a nice wedgey one there! Enjoy it!
