Now, that is a nice piece of mahogany furniture, congrats. I don't think you see a solid piece of mahogany that thick like the base too often anymore.

Wow!!! The figure on the base looks like "real"/Cuban mahogany and not the substitute cousin woods that we get today. That is pretty!!! How old is it? That is a hell of a deal. Over here, the smaller antiques of that type usually bring higher prices because you can actually fit them in most modern homes unlike really big pieces. of furniture like armoires and such.

You don't see real mahogany in any thickness very often these days!!! About 20 or so years ago, i saw a custom dining room table made from that flamed cuban mahogany that the maker has hidden away in his secret stash. he only had enough to make one leaf instead of the normal two and the table cost about as much as a new car!!!! I have three pieces made from that wood from the late 1800's and early 1900's. The two English pieces have marquetry, but none have that kind of figured wood.

That is an awesome shaving mirror & stand. Looks like it is from the Empire period/influence. Nice that it is solid mahogany. If it was US made it would be vanier. Beautiful piece. Nice and small makes it even nicer. Great find. It sits like it belongs on that marble top. All it will need is an occasional polishing.
