Default Fiskars Brass Frameback From Finland

Beautiful simplicity. Brass frame is in wonderful shape. Finland! Really excited about this one. I like these style of razors a lot and this one is a lot meatier than the dahlgren swede I sold to a friend.

I never thought of Fiskars making straight razors but why not, they are still making may kinds cutting tools. I usually think of hunting/filleting knives and pruning shears when I think of Fiskars. Would be nice to get a Fiskars straight razor it would go nice with this stainless modern Puukko.

I bet that Puukko shaves just fine.

Very cool razor, kcb. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Yes, it certainly did shave arm hair right out of the box. There is a strong Finnish community here so on a trip to Finland 35 odd years ago I wanted a souvenir for myself and my then brother in-law at the time. Seemed appropriate enough.

I cleaned it up quite a bit. It is like 85% of the way there. Tricky blade to clean to some degree. You have to account for muck in the tube of the frame, a lot of angles you want to maintain, and the steel seems fairly hard.

Looks great! A big difference when you started on it. I'm pretty blown away that Fiskars made straight razors. Shave with it then trim the hedges....hahahaha

I cleaned up the pivot a bit more and refined the finish on the tail. It looks fantastic in person. I also got all the crud out from in the scales. Only thing left for me to do is very gently tighten the pivot since it lost tension once I took away the rust and gunk. Laid it on a coti just to see what it is like in that regard. It is pretty consistent as far as hone contact from side to side, but it will require a rolling stroke for even coverage. Not what I would call a great razor for beginners to hone, but I don't think it will be a pig either.
