    Default Torrey wedge

Never saw a torrey like this before today. A little rusty, but a lot beautiful. Look at the grind!

It really is too bad that all of the later Torreys had such weak tang stamps. They are good blade but at a high risk of being unknown razors. Nice find. The wedges from them are a little tougher to find. I have one but not in anywhere quite as nice of condition.

I hate cleaning blades like these. Really hard to get a blade with flat sides, very sharp lines, and a mirror polish looking just right after knocking corrosion off.

I need to order some superfine grits to get to the intended level of mirror they gave it. It seems fastidiously ground, the old bevel is looking very neat.

You can say that again. I have this exact blade and it is off the scales at the moment. My dilemma is this, I have taken it as far as i can without losing both the tang stamp AND the blade etch. Any further and they will be gone. I could take it to an absolutely mirror finish level I am sure with it being a wedge and all the meat i have to work with but if I go any further it would essentially appear a no name straight, which I know it isnt but it still bothers me. What to do, what to do??

That's a drag... Personally, I wouldn't want to lose the maker's mark entirely. Maybe leave the tang to whatever finish level it is at assuming it is even and sacrifice the face etch to mirror the blade/leave the spine satin as well? Sort of a two tone deal?

I finally coaxed the rust off. I am not going to be aggressive though.
