    Finally, broke my streak of sheffields with terminal scales... All I need to do is clean it very kid gloves and hone it. The scales are perfect.

    Just don't touch that etching, it takes very little to make it disappear.

    Yeah, frosts are an even bigger pain than gold to deal with if it can be believed. Fortunately, apart from the small blotch on the maker's mark, there really isn't much beyond fine scratches. I need to be careful with said blotch as well as the tang stamp was originally a bit shallow/weak in that area. Will probably hit it with a pencil to get to metal and then try using the deadest wet dry superfine I have to even it out before a polish. I don't want to be aggressive. I'm just stoked it's not another sheffield that gets sent to the drawer till I get to dealing with the dead scales.
