I think it was intended for showpiece purposes to be honest with you... I've seen those horse blades before and they are much more tool-like utilitarian.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

im kicking myself for not going deeper on that auction, at the end i refrained from hitting the one click bid after having $400 typed in. not sure if that wouldve topped your high mark anyway but man, kickin myself just watched it end with my finger ready to pounce and never did........ IDIOT!

You would have won... I had to temper my aggression because of the insane laws in this state... The price I got that at was a joke. One, the scales are always trashed when you find one of these french blades, and two a lot of them have damage as a result of being in said trashed scales. I know these types in much worse shape have gone for over double what I paid.. I'll send it to mycarver eventually to max it out. I need to source a fitting box. A long silver plated box would be fantastic, but probably hard to come by exactly in the size I'd like. Need to think on that one.

I have no doubt the whole "natural materials" thing scared a LOT of ppl who wanted to bid off because of customs and potentially losing it....
