Challenge Cutlery & Peres Barrell Brand
Wife just got back from the in-laws in Bolton, Ontario - found two straight razors, one a Challenge Cutlery from Bridgeport Connecticut, a 6/8 spanish point, and a Peres Barrel Brand. Nice of her to think of me, was a nice surprise. $10.00 each...good for her!
Not my style of razors, but good I guess to practice some honing on!
And this Peres Barrel Brand, never heard of this one:

Nice, quality blades. Hone them up! Might make you think twice about the monsters!
I take it your wife has never seen your razor stash? Otherwise, she might know what to look for!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 884Challenge Cutlery was made from 1899-1927.
They did not make any junk. I carry an old Challenge Cutlery "tear drop" jack knife every day. It still snaps like an alligator and keeps a great edge.
Like Tom said, hone 'em up and take for a spin around your face.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

Thanked: 3215Yup, that Peres is a shaver. Sell the Hummers and jump into a 550 spyder, it will change your life…
Ok, you don’t have to sell them, but they may get a little dusty…

Wullie, thanks for the date information. Phrank, is your Challenge blade the round point? Because it's a nice counter point to my Square point blade that I just finished. And yes, I can vouch that it shaves very nicely, even with the edge I put on it.

Love to see it when you get it back. Looks like a cousin to the one I have.

Well, we do use "cutthroat" razors, no?
