8/8 Southern & Richardson Wheeldon Works, Sheffield Reazor
I'm happy. This one is on its way from theivebay....lol It's not in the best condition. The scales could be better, its pitted with some rust...BUT apparently there are not too many around. At least from what I could find on the internet I haven't seen any 1 inch wide S&R straight razors. (That means nothing though right.)
The company history is pretty interesting from what I was reading today.
All comments welcome and restoration tips encouraged. I will sand the blade down with some fine grit sand paper and polish it with mothers for a little luster. I will take pics after I get it and put some light work into it.
Thanks

Great find Cheetah, that's the biggest S&R I've ever seen. Most of their blades are relatively small hollow grounds (5/8 or 6/8) and often marked as "Shaveezie". I think this one could be a lot older too, possibly 1870s or 80s.

Very nice. If I had to pick one blade shape to epitomize "Sheffield" that's the one. I think every maker from there has made that shape.

I agree Maladroit. From what I read, S&R added the "LTD" stamp to their razors around 1910 so hopefully it is 1870 or 80's.
Thanks

Nice, big chopper, Cheetah! Let's hone it up and shave, shall we?

I think that is one I saw & I almost bid on it but I already had my eyes on 2 Cattaraugus Green Lizard's which i did win, so I will be showing off my 7 day set soon. I have a wood cigar box I need to fix up forth. I have some red felt & I need to glue it in there & make some dividers for them. I made out like a bandit compared to the mismatched 7 day set on the bay awhile back that some greedy seller had a bin of $1599 or best offer on. I showed it awhile back here:

It was such a cheesy set & the lizard the seller cut out, painted green & glued it on such a beautiful vintage box destroyed a nice old box!
oh well, I'll stop here because I'm not here to hi-jack this thread!
