I Barber Magnum Bonum
I was excited to get this one. In the listing it was clear the scales had a small issue at the wedge end but that turned into an explosion in transit apparently! Never ship a razor in an envelope, cant understand why so many folks do. Anyhow- the etch on the spine is still legible and the blade can be cleaned up without touching that at all. The scales can be repaired and those collars are a sweet bonus I may even just tape the scales up temp and hone her up as is! why not eh?

Yeah silverloaf, I don't get it either, people mailing straight razor's in padded envelopes but if you need to send one that way, there are ways to protect it like to put it in a piece of PVC conduit or a box or something of a protective nature!!!! I have gotten them in padded envelopes only to be wrapped in bubble wrap & put in there but that's no guarantee it will arrive in the same condition it was first shipped!!!!
People try to be so cheap so they can make a couple extra bucks in the shipping! Those are the greedy type who want to make the most they can from an item w/o making sure it is protected all the way. They are the ones who think that bubble wrap will protect it from hurricanes!!!! When I ship something & IF I use a padded envelope, I will put the item such as a straight razor in a box or something that will protect it from those who handle it!
I just don't get it though, the way people ship things!!!!!

+1 on the packing stupidity. How hard is it? I shipped a razor to Korea last week. Put it in a box (the coffin box, but even a toothbrush tube from the Dollar Store would work), Put the coffin box in a Ziploc. Put the Ziploc in a slightly larger box and surrounded the thing with vermiculite. Tape the whole works shut and send it on it's way. That thing will survive the plane CRASHING and it still only cost $10.00 to ship . . . to KOREA. So how much are they REALLY saving?
Oh, and the collars are lovely, look the same as the ones everyone liked on the W&B I have out for resto.Last edited by Orville; 05-23-2015 at 03:12 PM.

Thanked: 2284I have shipped razors too the UK in padded envelopes, only because I can get it to pass as letter mail. Then it only costs $5 and it gets there in a reasonable amount of time. If you ship in a box and send it by ground it takes over a month. If you ship in a box and ship by air it costs $40. Shipping from Canada to Overseas is a tough pill to swallow.

I have some extra coffins that don't have a top on them & I have used them before to help protect a straight razor when shipping. It's either that or they just go in a pile of unused coffins. One w/o a top will protect about 90% of a straight& then i will fab something to fit over the end!
I love those rosette collars as well.
