Thanked: 4New R.A
My brand new 7/8 R.A in bone scales. The package Just arrived from Germany today. This is my first new razor. I learned on two whipped dog razors, a 5/8 and a 6/8. It's definitely a lot prettier than my two whipped dog razors but how it shaves is what really matters. I honestly don't know if I can shave with tomorrow morning! It's a work of art and i don't want to muck it up. Do you guys normally shave with razors this pricy or do you just collect them?

Nice, Greg. We usually shave with them AND avoid mucking them up!

Thanked: 634I shave with any razor regardless of price. You say the scales are bone? Really dark. Are you sure they are not horn?

Thanked: 3227Nice looking razor, love the Spanish point on it.
The only new razor I have bought is a Revisor, which iirc is in the same price range, and have shaved with it from day one. It is a razor meant for shaving. There are plenty of members on here who shave with razors both more and less expensive than mine. Take a quick look at the SOTD thread.

That razor is made for shaving
And that's just what it'll do...
And that's horn.

If I cannot shave with it, I do not want it.
Not sure about R.A. factory edges but it may not be super sharp or smooth.
Find a member or mentor who can hone it for you.

Congratulations! :
I have ONE 'new' razor a Revisor 6/8 and I really like it. However while the factory edge wasn't 'bad' after I honed it the razor is an excellent shaver!
Have fun with it and when the time comes to have it honed please send it out to someone who knows what they are doing.
While I've honed many, many razors for others I do have a 'Favorite Pro' so if you are interested, just PM me. As I said enjoy your new razor, it's only new 'once'.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

They are meant to be shaved with,, I have several razors that are custom , and cost close to 1k , I shave with every one of them all the time , don't display at all when not in use their in the safe , and I treat them the same as my other daily driver a 20$ one. No sense in getting a quality razor just to look at , Enjoy it , but my last Revisor wasn't shave ready to my standards even after I asked Herr Kronenberg to do that. So maybe get it honed after you try it , maybe you will like it. Tc. Good luck
