It's like Christmas!
I just got three razors today.
The much anticipated Henckels safety razor.
A beautiful set in a lovely case, I am going to use it with the blades. There is an inkling of hesitation but that's what they where made for.
Mappin & Web Royal Cutlery Works "Trustworthy"
The finish on this is even better than I had anticipated and but for a few scuffs it looks like it's been chromed. Unfortunately the cellulose or plastic scales are warped, any advice on straightening is much appreciated.
And finally this very odd one
I believe it says ALDAM & CO CAST STEEL, although the CO looks like the the o is small with a dot underneath.
It tapers on the spine from tail to toe
and is as near a pure wedge as I can tell
Any background info on this one would be appreciated as well.Last edited by Hart; 06-24-2015 at 02:08 AM.

Very nice - knew the M&W was a beautiful piece - but alas, I was gunning for the Reynolds FBU....
And that very old razor, probably turn of the 19th century, if not older, is a great find.
My 18th century French razor is with Val now for a clean up and hone, he said it was going to be interesting to get an edge of it.
DE looks awesome, seems a very rare piece, something to hold on to for sure.

Thanked: 4826Are you sure the Mappin abad Web is plastic? That is quite the acquisition pile. I am just a little envious.

Thanked: 4826I saw Glen do something rather clever when the question came up on a set of scales. He rubbed the very vigorously and the smelled them to see if they had that chemical smell associated with plastics. You may try that too.

So you're the one that ended up with that Mapping & Webb..............the Heckles too. I didn't see the Adams & Co but very excellent scores of course!
The Mappin & Webb appears to look like Ivory to me!
