And when the ol lady gets back to work and eases the monecular stress,so i can buy the materials. Also looking for brass foil to cut out embelishments and things. Then i can CA some neat things or maybe imbed them in the scales.
Lots of ideas. This way with screws is cheap, and gives me time to try different things without wasting pins.
It has also taught me how to shimm those bent and twisted razors.
You know what i mean, they can be tricky
I've been looking at some of that Kirinite. Some of those look really nice!!!

That too! I'd love to have a vacuum chamber for stabilizing Maple & others. You can get a vacuum pump on ebay pretty cheap. You use this stuff called Cactus Juice. This guy sells it & he will also build you a vacuum chamber for about the same price or less than you could build one & I think he cuts his clear acrylic by cnc router, I'm not 100% sure, I need to research him again or he may have told me that in an email because I inquired about it one time. It is a more accurate sealing surface:

He's got a waiting list on chamber's but it probably wouldn't take too long before you had one. Here's a couple good YouTube video's I watched awhile back!

I'm selling some things on eBay now so I might be able to buy me a vacuum chamber & a vacuum pump.

Here's a couple vacuum pumps I have had saved. The first one is a little cheaper but the 2nd one is a little better for not much more.

Yeah, same here. I really like spalted maple, it turns out gorgeous when done right. I've also got this saved. It looks like you could make some rougher wood scales smooth. A CA wood finishing kit:

Mike, I just found this email reply from the guy, he's here in Texas but I think he has very reasonable prices. He cuts his acrylic with a cnc router. I knew it was a much more precise way he had of doing it:

Pricing for all of my vacuum chambers can be found on my website. Pricing will depend on the diameter chamber that you choose as well as the length of chamber you choose. As for building one yourself, I think you'll find that by the time you buy the materials it will not be a whole lot cheaper than having me do it. My chambers are not built from off-the-shelf parts. I machine and fabricate all of the fittings myself on a CNC router. You could go on eBay and buy some clear PVC pipe and then go to Lowe's and try to cobble together the base and the But coming up with a system to get a good seal for vacuum is going to be difficult. My current lead time on my vacuum chambers is only one to 4 weeks so you might want to keep that in mind. You may have read on the Internet somewhere that the wait was 3 to 4 months but that was from early in 2014.
