Default 2 W&B's Just Honed by gssixgun

Had these for a while, but I just got them honed by Glen (gssixgun) and some work done on the FBU. Sorry the pics aren't better.

The 5/8" is all original. I think it is going to be my main SR shaver for now. The blade is stamped HART HARDWARE Co. LOUISVILLE, KY with SPECIAL on the shank.
The 8/8" is a really nice blade. It says For Barber Use, but doesn't have Sheffield anywhere on it. It has new scales made by 'Rowdy' Wright (wrightpulaski2 on ebay). I messed them up worse trying to fit a wedge to them. I bought two other sets of scales from Wright hoping to save some money, but I honestly haven't been really happy with them. I polished them to 15k with micromesh (they were sanded to 2k when I first got them) and drilled them as straight as I could.
Glen was able to get them mostly straightened out. He did nice job working with what he had, I have to emphasize that. He didn't have to try and fix someone else's mistake. After I start working again I will probably get them completely rescaled by him or another SRP vendor like I should have in the first place. The wedge is elephant ivory, but you can't really see the rings/grain in the picture. It has microfasteners right now, but I'm hoping to eventually get it pinned with 1/4" bullseye washers like it was originally. The blade is in great condition for the age, so I really want it looking its' best.

    Here they are.

Both will be great shavers. I really like the notch.

    Congrats

Nice blades - don't worry about the W&B 8/8 not saying "Sheffield" - I have several FBU that don't say Sheffield either...seems to be the norm on ones like that:

Thanks, I've got several razors that need rescaling so I'm trying to decide what order to have them done. It's too bad I can't do them all myself, because rescale jobs are pretty expensive.

I wasn't worried about it, just thought it was interesting. I didn't know how common it was, or if it was an indication of its' age.

So learn how to make scales, and pin. Its not that hard, I guarantee the folks here will help with any questions. I myself am doing some, first few were done using micro screws, and i just did my first pinning last weekend Name: uploadfromtaptalk1436739830202.jpg

I highly recomend a small drill press. Its a must for scales and a good saw that can cut thin pieces of material Name: uploadfromtaptalk1436740619985.jpg

Use one of the scales as a template then cut it out and sand by hand

I love that 8/8, amazing blade! I have one that is similar, it is a terrific shaver.

I've done a lot of reading on making scales, and have a few sets nearly finished.
Living in a small 1 BR apartment in the city makes it difficult to get much done though. If I do any work in the apartment, the cleaning is a pain as well. I don't have a lot of tools either, which makes it take that much longer. Hopefully I can get a few sets done here soon.

I have a piece of G-10 I want to make scales with. It is hard to work with, but it won't need finishing and would be really durable. I wanted to rescale some of them horn (so they would look more original) but I need to try and use what I have right now instead of spending more money on supplies.

Yep, know exactly where you're coming from, I've been there, took me awhile to accumulate what I have.
Next will be a wood stabilization unit[emoji6] when i can raise the chedder.
