Default 48 square inches of Vegi tanned Horse hide = One happy Stropper

so I eagerly open it to find this

    the Specs
1 off Natural coloured 3” Vegetable tanned horse hide with 3" natural linen and black & natural 3ply handle, giving me a new stropping area of 3"x16" (48"sq)

1 off 3” natural linen hanging strop - for a pasted option when I can bring myself to paste it

1 off Practice strop from the Horween oil tanned horse hide - you gotta sample the leathers competition LOL

did a quick 50/100 laps on the razor next in line to use,
my initial verdict straight out of the box is as follows:
Overall appearance the leather looks & feel great & I love the contrasting stitching
The Handle leather & shape feel good in the hand - but will take a bit to get used to as this is my first handled strop LOL
I definitely like the Linen, it feels different to me coarse but slick (only compared to my 2 year old felt that is rather broken in & smooth but has a bit of a grippy feel compared to the linen) but I know it will smooth out & soften with use also,
now the steel on this leather feels slick without any rubbing even

Now I know this is only going to get better with regular use as my 2 year old Bridal is now relegated to post honing stropping
& this bad boy will be the new King for all Pre & post shave stropping

A big thank you to Torolf & the Scrupleworks team for these beautiful items
    Saved,
    to shave another day.

Nooooo! Don't paste that precious linen! Good linen is becoming harder and harder to find. If you must use paste, why not put it on your old felt strop? Actually, the felt would be better anyway due to the more open weave of the linen. Here's what our dear friend Neil Miller had to say about his fine English linen..

"The 100% genuine linen is a natural substance and much less refined than white table linen, so it has a more abrasive effect and is better for preparing the razor for stropping on the leather. Unlike cotton/canvas, it does not require a dressing to make it more abrasive. Being less refined, it has wispy tendrils of fibre coming out from its surface, but these do not affect stropping. They may be trimmed or singed off, but they will fall away of their own accord during stropping."

Heh, OK.. rant off, it's just my opinion anyway. Many think that stropping on linen leads to a better edge but whether that is true or not, I love the feel of stropping on real linen.

48 square inches Tom only a 16" long stropping area LOL

Also I have no intention of pasting my leather and linen strop Tack, only the second linen only strop I also got just for this purpose, as mentioned if I can bring myself to do it

    Very nice!
Been looking at a torolf strop for a while. How does the oil tanned horsehide compare to the veg tanned horsehide?

Sweet. I daresay the draw will be slightly heavier but end results pretty much the same, you cant go wrong with horween either way.
