    Default Aberfoyle trip

Went to Aberfoyle with the Missus and friends yesterday. Saw a fair bit more razor vendors than previous outing. Managed to come home with a few toys. One is just a sharpen and shave job. The other two will require new scales but have interesting blades and at the price paid, will be good value once restored. Hell, the wife even promised to shave her legs with the one she badgered me into getting. I am at work, so pics will have to wait until tonight.

Here you go . . . the Henckels, outside of a few scratches on the blade, looks factory new. I am reasonably confident that all it needs is a decent honing and it will be ready to go. The other two were purchased primarily for the blades. The (fake?) ivory one was the wife's idea. I did not see it until after purchase. She thought the covered tang was "nice", and never bothered to note the damage to one of the scales. Still, for $10.00, I cannot complain too loudly, especially after what she scooped in Boise for me.

Nice! The Henckels looks perfect. Betcha that tang on the other one is solid ivory, not just 'covered'. Scales ivory as well. You need a replacement scale for that one.
And the other looks likely too. A nice S B. (pun intended)

Looks like some good finds. I bet dollars to doughnuts that is not fake ivory. Good going.

So I tried running the Henckel over my lapping films. Bevel seems to be very thin at the toe and heel, and thicker in the middle. Switched over to using my arky black and, with specific pressure to the heel and toe, the bevel looks to be evening out. I think I will continue to do this fro a couple hundred more laps. Might just finish the blade, and it will continue to burnish the stone at the very least.

Yeah, do away with those lapping films. Not lapping here! Smile the edge as-honing. Better start with something a bit more coarse?
