Like Bob, I think the blades been waiting long enough to be used by the right owner.
Be that guy.
Enjoy either way..

I have some of these Bartmann razor as well. Beautiful and very smooth shavers. I like the ones with the manganese steel the most.
They're harder to hone, but keep their edge longer.
Great razor you've got there!

Thanked: 2This one has manganese engrave on the shank. Ive tried it on the back of my hand just check the dullness of the blade and, it very much still has a sharp edge.

I wonder if the same company made the Hoffritz High Class?

As far as Solingen razors go (that I have seen), there were what you can call 'industry standards'; three pins, very similar round and square points, etc. The lion's share of (quality) Solingen razors I have seen were around 6/8, round point, straight tang and optional etchings/gold wash. Then there are less common (but still regularly applied) features such has jimping, thumb notches, sculpted or otherwise decorated spines, covered tangs to name some that come to mind.
Of course there was more variety than there is nowadays, as there were more drop-forges producing blanks (unlike now when there is only one in Solingen that produces all blanks for all Solingen manufacturers), but based on what I have seen there are often recurring features. The fact that it was an industry producing large numbers of razors probably had something to do with such similarities. What makes individual razors stand out is the quality of their grind and finish, which really depended on which individual ground that specific razor. Which is why, in the end, it is a bit silly to hail certain razors manufacturers as being 'among the best'. Most were at least good, at least partly due to sturdy quality control.
That being said mistaoso, this Bartmann looks great and you got it at a good price; no bargain-basement, but good. There is no reason to believe it will not make a nice shaver, enjoy!Last edited by Pithor; 08-05-2015 at 12:59 PM.

It's a beauty for sure! It has some nice spine work, something my Hoffritz doesn't but they seem to be similar which is why Pithor said what he said. The Hoffritz High Class is a nice razor & very sharp at that.
