Don't know anything about the Fair & Square but J.A. Henckel's are probably the best German made razor out there. I had one a while back and like a dummy sold it then wished I had it back. Took me two years to find another in good shape at a decent price, ended up getting my hands on two, which I'm keeping. Henckels in decent condition at a reasonable price are hard to find...........Enjoy!

Imo, tuckmar is top of the heap, followed by dorko and puma. My favorite German razor is the 13/16 ator but I can't call it the best as the steel is not as great as those three.

Fair and square only needs minor cleanup on the spine, the covered tang just needs a polish and I can hone it. I only had to slightly peen one of the tang covers a touch tighter, but it was good because I could see how oxidized the steel was in there. The platinum needs the most rust removal, it also needs some corrective honing to ease the heel back and more in line with the rest. Fair and square scales are interesting. The outside is glazed in some sort of lacquer and the inside is sort of unfinished beyond whatever tooling from milling them flat.
