Got lucky.
I have one more with the same blade so i bid on this one and as luck would have it i got it. I hope it's a 6/8 there was not discription just the photo . I believe the scales will clean up ok and the blade doesn't look like it will need much more than honing.

Thanked: 4828Roger you seem to get lucky blade shopping quite a bit. In this case I tend to agree.

Thanked: 1184Nice grab and I think your eye has done a good job on the assessment.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

When it gets here I can compare it to the other I have. The other has a set of green scales I made year before last and if the blades are the same I will either take a set of blonde horn scales I have or make a set of scales out of some grayish horn . I really do like the shape of the blade. My trouble is I pretty much like all razors. Some I see on the bay are beyond my ability to re-work and some I have I believe there are others out there that could have done a better job on, I have been lucky as they all so far have honed OK and shave OK and that's saying something because my honing skills aren't really that good.

This one arrived today and I am surprised. It is 13/16 and the blade shows little sign of honing. The scales are as described in the add with a chip out of the back of the blade but when closed the blade dose not show in the chip. I cleaned it and and soak in alcohol to rid it of water then dried and covered in neets foot oil and letting is soak for a few days before I decide what to do. I have aperfect set of dark horn scales with a brass inlay . Don't know if I should leave it as is or replace the scales with dark horn . At any rate this one is a keeper.

May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!
