    Default Salvation Army Auction

Yup, was at the Sally Ann auction tonite and came away with this pile of junk.

There was a bit of a jewel in the pile though. Not mint but for what I got the lot for I am not complaining at all,

Gave all a quick clean with Simple Green including the brush knot which is drying. Turns out the hand clippers weren't really junk either, Henckels made.

Very nice, Bob! What kind of plating is on the Gillette Adjustable? I swear I saw one that was gold plated.

This one is gold made fourth quarter 1960 (F4) but there are some nickel plated toggles too from what I have read.

Nice! Those toggles can go for a couple of hundred bucks on the Bay! They are Really Hot right now. Clean it and post it, it'll pay for some nice straights!!

Very nice score Bob! Couldn't have been found by a guy. If I know you like I think I do, you'll be hanging onto that toggle Gillette. That Gillette Knack is pretty cool too. I have, but yet to use it. Let us know how they all shave!

Good money well spent to do some good, and a nice return on your investment. bye the way, do not sell the brush set shoort they are still $50 or more and mine has a great, if floppy knot. The Gillette Atra handle can be made to fit many other DE razors with little effort.

Thanks and yea you got me pegged, I'm hanging on to the toggle. I'm too cheap to pay the going rate for one. If you divide all the pieces (6) in the bunch, the toggle cost me 6 Canuck bucks. Sorry, couldn't resist crowing a bit. Heck I may even send it out for an overhaul to fix a slight bend in the toggle and replating.

Yes, it is win/win at the Sally. Yes, I was looking at the brush and it seems to be some kind of badger knot, I think. I'll give it a whirl when it dries out. Thanks for the tip.

Missed this yesterday - superb find and win!

Funny, if the scales are in really bad shape on a straight, I don't mind replacing them - but replating a razor IMO is something I'd never do - I personally would never buy a replated DE, would just be to modified for my liking, of course, YMMV.

That toggle razor could fund much funds to whatever other AD you wanted to indulge in, liked your thought on it as well from the other thread. You mentioned that it performed the same/similar to the Fat Boy, you didn't notice the blade being held firmer by the mechanism?

I'm curious as to what type cases came with the toggle razor. The same as the fat boy?
