I won this Bengall for $13 (w/ shipping). The arc of the bevel makes it look like it has a frown to it, but the edge is straight. One of the scales (bakelite?) is mostly faded from black to brown.
I tried honing it myself using most of my stones. I had to start over with some rough hones to get out most of the tiny chips that were only visible through a loupe. I added a second layer of tape and that seemed to help as well.
Decided to do some experimenting and finished it on my Norton Grey Trans Arkansas stone instead of my coticule. I've only done a little dry test shaving, but it seems to shave well. So, next I'll see how it does with my Baker St shaving soap.
