We going try this again
I saw this one on the bay and although the photos aren't that good i made an offer and it was accepted. the blade will take some clean up how much i don't know but the scales are broken. i have several scales that one side is good and the other not so i'll see if i can match a set up. hopefully it'll turn out usable. It looks like at least a 6/8 and maybe a 7/8. anyway i'll be gone when it arrives so i'll have just wonder for a week. I almost forgot. It was listed as a K & J W King. New York. I think maybe in those days they got blades from England and Germany and then ground them in USA. don't know just hoping.

Thanked: 2284I think you did very well. If it's American, and in the style it is, I would think it to be a very desirable blade. It has that English shape that many really, really enjoy and with that hard American steel that takes such a nice edge, I'm willing to bet it will shave like the dickens! Very nice score, cant wait to see it completed.

Thanked: 4827I like that one. A little sanding and likely a new set of scales and bingo it will shave again.

I've got one set of new horn scales. not the black but grayish with dark streaks already made and polished. it would be nice if that blade would fit. if not i'll order a set of horn rectangles 2X6X1/8 and make another. the photos weren't that good so I couldn't see the blade real good but I don't think it's going to be too bad. anyway I will ck the blade against the scales I have made if want work i'll order. then I will oil the blade good and put it away for the winter. just hope I can keep my hands off it until it gets cold and nasty outside.

Great find. I've had several in worse shape than that, and they turned out excellent..
Good luck,
